Lighthouse Lab Services is partnered with a premier reference laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. We are currently looking for a General Supervisor for their new microbiology department. This a great opportunity for some who wants to make their mark as a leader in the clinical lab.

The general supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of laboratory operations, personnel performing testing, and reporting test results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Direct and maintain operations of the Clinical Microbiology laboratory including overseeing testing, instrumentation maintenance, staff training, competency assessment, proficiency evaluation, performance management and documentation
-Develop, engage, recognize and support technical and non-technical staff
-Provide technical training to staff
-Manage department and individual performance by providing feedback and coaching to staff members
-Maintain departmental operating policies and procedures to include departmental SOPs, quality control, quality assurance and safety
-Review completion of patient test results, quality control results and tracks productivity
-Take corrective action to resolve issues involving test results, quality, instrumentation, compliance and employee performance
-Qualified as Testing Personnel for high complexity testing AND a minimum of 3 years bench experience in Microbiology (required)
-BS or MS Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences
-Certified MT or MLT from American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
-Superior communication and interpersonal skills
-Excellent organizational skills
-Ability to promote teamwork in a positive work environment
-In-depth knowledge of antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) for different specimen types and familiarity with CLSI guidelines
