Lighthouse Lab Services is representing a growing Independent Reference Lab near King of Prussia, PA who is looking for a Laboratory Manager to lead the fray in all things Operational. If this sounds like you, then keep on reading! 

Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

-Plans, assigns, and directs work in the laboratory.  Serves as liaison with other areas as needed.

-Mentors and supports direct reports, i.e. Medical Technologists and Laboratory Informatics Specialists, in their responsibilities and functions, ensuring they receive proper training and development.  Identifies and implements training programs as necessary.

-Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs and supervises activities of Quality Control.  Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to date.  Oversees plans and preparations for inspections.

-Oversees staffing of all personnel in the laboratory.  Effectively maintains quality staffing by interviewing, hiring, training and providing staff development through performance evaluation and performance management.

-Identifies future needs in terms of staff, equipment, and facilities.  Submits appropriate documentation for procurement of such.

-Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and prepares and submits required reports to meet established deadlines.

-Manages test database.  Ensures departmental standard operating procedures and database accurately reflects the current process.

-Coordinates Research & Development activities as it relates to operations and actively participates on subspecialty committees, corporate committees, and business unit committees as needed.

-Develops annual budget and manages department costs and resources to adhere to the budget.

-Resolves problems through interaction with clients via phone calls or other means of communication.

-Defines, coordinates and monitors safety programs. Ensures safety regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed. Oversees, plans, and prepares for inspections.

-Oversees Proficiency Testing.

-Performs pre-inspection consultation.

-Provides remediation assistance.

-Provides employee training and evaluates competencies.

-Conducts mock inspections.

-Regulates Medical Waste.

-Provides order entry and specimen submission training.

-Explains, trains on, and monitors Quality Control.

-Serve on test utilization and standardization committee.

-Performs all other related duties as required.

Basic Preferred Profile: 

-Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, Health Sciences or related Required. 
-Master's in Health Administration is preferred. 
-5+ Years of Clinical Laboratory Experience Required, preferably in Microbiology. 
-2+ Years of  Laboratory Supervisory/Management Experience Required. 
-Working Knowledge of the principles and techniques in Microbiology preferred but not required. 
-Prior Experience overseeing Anatomic Pathology Preferred.
