Lighthouse Lab Services is representing an upcoming Forensic Reference Laboratory that is looking for a few experienced Forensic Technologists to join their team near scenic Houston, TX.
in this role, you will have the opportunity to perform all of the typical functions of a Forensic Technologist, which includes but not limited to:
-Testing may include screening for the presence of biological fluids and DNA analysis using Polymerase Chain Reaction/Short Tandem Restraints (PCR/STR) based methods.
-Follows all established protocols and procedures.
-Performs other tasks as deemed necessary by the Forensic Genetics Director.
-Conducts scientific laboratory examinations and analyses of specimens submitted by forensic pathologists and law enforcement officers from medico-legal and criminal cases.
-Prepares written reports that support the analytical findings and provides testimony as an expert witness in legal proceedings.
-Participates in training, competency testing, and proficiency testing according to established protocols.
-Operates and maintains laboratory instruments.
-Assists in ensuring the laboratory remains in compliance with the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD/LAB) accreditation standards and the FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories.
-Maintains American Board of Criminalistics certification and meet ASCLD/LAB standards and the FBI Quality Assurance Standards by attending continuing education/training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, and professional meetings.
-Follows rigorously all Safety, Method Manual, and Quality Assurance / Quality Control protocols.
-Performs other duties as assigned by the Forensic Genetics Director or the Crime Laboratory Director.
Basic Preferred Profile:
-MS/BS in Forensic Science or related.
-2+ Years forensic human DNA Crime Laboratory experience Required.
-Previous experience testing Bone, Dry Blood, and Rape Kits.
-Previous experience with DNA Extraction, Whole Genome Amplification Required.
