Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
-Performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results on a variety of biological specimens using manual and automated techniques.
-Monitors quality control systems to ensure accuracy.
-Accurately identifies patients and specimens per policy.
-Ensures specimen appropriateness and maintains specimen integrity throughout collection, testing and storage.
-Efficiently and accurately reports results, including timely communication of stat and critical results, with appropriate documentation in the LIS call queue.
-Assists with inventory management by documenting open dates on supplies as required by policy, and promptly notifying supervisor of low inventory.
-Maintains an organized work environment to enable another to take over job duties, including stocking of bench supplies prior to shift end.
-Demonstrates proficient use of the Laboratory Information System.
-Prepares and maintains analytical equipment in proper operating condition in accordance with specific policy and procedure, and follows Lab guidelines when test systems are not within acceptable limits.
-Participates in teaching students and training of new staff members.
Basic Preferred Profile:
-Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or similar.
-1+ years of clinical laboratory experience
-Experience in Hematology is required.
-ASCP Certification required.
-Shift is Overnight, 4-10's, M-Thursday
