Clinical Reference Laboratory, near Kansas City, MO, helps people live healthy lives by offering services that enable people to buy life insurance, access medications, and receive custom medical treatments. Their team has grown, and their Lab Director is moving into a Chief Scientific Officer role, so they are looking for a Full-time Medical Laboratory Director to work in conjunction with their CSO to lead their amazing lab team.

A compliance expert is sought as Medical Laboratory Director and leader for an existing CLIA licensed laboratory performing clinical chemistry, diagnostic immunology, hematology, endocrinology, oncology (soluble tumor markers), screening and confirmatory toxicology, genetic, and blood lead testing. 

Responsibilities: 
o    Application Processing: Complete, process, and maintain CLIA, COLA, CAP, and/or state specific applications and documentation.
o    Equipment Recommendations: Recommend appropriate equipment and supplies for the specific molecular and cytogenetic testing.  
o    Laboratory Build-out and Design: Work in conjunction with instrument manufacturers to plan layout and design on the laboratory space as needed for future changes/additions to the lab.
o    Validation: Assist, oversee, and guide any new validations.
o    SOPs: Develop SOPs as needed.
o    Recruiting: Assist in recruiting, screening, and interviewing potential staff-level employees for the laboratory.
o    Test Menu: Provides guidance with regard to current and proposed test menus.
o    Inspection Preparation: Prepare the laboratory and staff for upcoming inspections and surveys.
o    Industry Knowledge: Keep up-to-date on industry changes in billing, coding, reimbursements, testing, best practices, and innovations.
o    Billing: Provide pro-formas or other documentation as needed, estimating expected revenues based on reimbursement, start-ups costs, and on-going testing.
o    Consulting: Provide on-going consultation to address regulatory and technical issues.
 
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
 
The qualified candidate possesses a doctoral degree and CMS-approved board certification; a NYCQ in Clinical Chemistry or eligibility to obtain said CQ is also REQUIRED.

Preference will be given to individuals who additionally hold NYCQs in Diagnostic Immunology, Hematology, Endocrinology, Oncology (Soluble Tumor Markers), Therapeutic Substance Monitoring/Quantitative Toxicology, Clinical Toxicology, Genetic Testing, and/or Trace Elements/Blood Lead.

For PhDs:
One of the following CMS-approved board certifications is REQUIRED:

1. ABB – American Board of Bioanalysis 

2. ABB public health microbiology certification

3. ABCC – American Board of Clinical Chemistry

4. ABCC 24-month Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry (COMACC)

5. ABFT – American Board of Forensic Toxicology

6. ABHI – American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics

7. ABMG – American Board of Medical Genetics

8. ABMLI – American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology

9. ABMM – American Board of Medical Microbiology

10. NRCC – National Registry of Certified Chemists

For MDs:
•    ABP—American Board of Pathology certification in Clinical Pathology 
•    Current unrestricted Kansas Medical License

•    $175,000+ dependent upon experience
