Lighthouse Lab Services is currently seeking a Molecular Technologist to join a quickly growing Reference Laboratory near Jackson, Mississippi. The Molecular Technologist is responsible for specimen processing and testing samples in a clinical molecular laboratory setting. This position reports to the Laboratory Manager.
The ideal candidate possesses a working knowledge of molecular biology with experience in the performance and application of techniques including: DNA extraction, conventional and real-time PCR, NGS and other molecular diagnostic techniques and quality control/quality assurance.
Experience with in-house molecular diagnostic assays, quality control/assurance, and/or troubleshooting is required, as is the ability to follow standard protocols and to independently perform laboratory routine testing in the area of molecular pathology.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare human biological material for analysis. This may include blood, body fluids and tissues.
Analyzes test results for acceptability against set controls and enters findings into the computer database
Maintain daily/weekly logs and QC documents for assays and equipment
Monitors performance of equipment by implementing QC standard operating procedures.
Helps inventory maintenance by monitoring inventory levels of reagents and consumables, providing alerts to lab manager if needed
Assists in the development of clinical assays and the validation.
May perform receiving, accessioning, and client relations duties as assigned.
You should apply if you have at least a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Toxicology (or related field) and at least two years of previous clinical experience in Molecular Pathology testing that includes next generation sequencing and/or pharmacogenomic testing. Basic Preferred Profile:
– Bachelor's or greater in Medical technology or related field.
-2+ years Molecular pathology experience in a clinical setting necessary
-ASCP(MB) preferred or related certification
Salary and Benefits:
– Base salary of $50K- $55k a year , based on previous experience
