Are you a Molecular Technologist that would like to expand your skill set and move up to cutting edge technology?  Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with a well established Pharma company that provides a broad range of integrated and dynamic laboratory services supporting all phases of clinical trials and advanced diagnostic development across immune-oncology, hematology, solid tumors and various non-oncology disciplines.  We are currently looking for a Molecular Technologist to perform Genotyping and extractions.  You will be trained and moved to NGS technologies in a short time.    

Summary of Functions:

This position performs high complexity testing of client samples in a regulated environment including nucleic acid purification, quantitation and quality assessment, gene expression, genotyping, and sequencing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Process client samples using approved standard operating procedures and in accordance with analytical plans.

· Perform routine and non-routine intermediate to high complexity molecular techniques in a GCLP and CLIA regulated environment.

· Isolate, quantify and assess quality of nucleic acids using manual and automated techniques.

· Perform genetic analysis including gene expression, genotyping, fragment analysis, and sequencing using technologies such as PCR, qPCR, Electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

· Utilize platforms including Promega Maxwell, ABI ViiA7, ABI 3730xl, Illumina MiSeq/NextSeq, and ThermoFisher Ion S5 XL.

· Make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results.

· Review documentation for accuracy and completeness.

· Identify and troubleshoot discrepancies and quality control failures.

· Assist in the development and validation of new assays and procedures.

· Assist in the commissioning and qualification of laboratory equipment.

· Assist in the writing and editing of standard operating procedures, material requirements documents, and other essential documentation.

· Responsible for reviewing genomic and gene expression data.

· Maintain equipment logs, maintenance logs, and calibration logs.

· Assist in laboratory inventory, make common reagents and review reagent quality control.

· Assist in other laboratory areas and sample management as needed.

· Work in collaboration with others for projects.

· Serve as a mentor and/or trainer to other lab personnel.

· Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

· Normally receive general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

· Perform other duties as needed.

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to the Molecular Supervisor or designee.

Educational or Skill Requirements:

· Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in life sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or closely related field with 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

· Must be able to interpret and follow procedures that are given both in writing and verbally.

· Must be able to organize, multitask and demonstrate effective time management and prioritization skills.

· Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Must have excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a laboratory environment.
