Your Role Within the Company:

Medical Technologists are tremendously important because of how crucial their job is to patient diagnoses. It's estimated that 70% of medical decisions are based on lab results — without lab scientists like you, those decisions wouldn't be possible. And Generalists shoulder so much of that responsibility. Testing would include Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Toxicology, Urinalysis, Immunology and/or Microbiology — all under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor. You should also expect some clerical and miscellaneous tasks as assigned (but that's part of the job, right?). You'll also be working together with doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff to save lives and help people feel better. What's more rewarding than that?

Community Information:

Kankakee, IL is a community a little over an hour south of the city of Chicago where you're close enough to spend the day in the city but you live far enough away to enjoy some of nature. Kankakee River State Park in Bourbonnais is just a 15-20 minute drive away and allows hiking and biking trails for those who enjoy the outdoors. Bourbonnais would also be a great place to live and is just a 15 minute commute to the hospital.

Available Shifts:

– Evenings (staggered start times)

– Nights (staggered start times)

Background Profile:

– Expertise as a Medical Technologist Generalist (Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Toxicology, Urinalysis, Immunology and Microbiology)

– Experience in a clinical laboratory environment

– Exposure to CAP and CLIA regulations

– MT(ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) or equivalent certification
