Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with one of the most elite reference labs in southern California in a search for a new Director of Toxicology.
Reporting to the Vice President Clinical Laboratory Operations, the Technical Director of Toxicology will have the overall responsibility for the Toxicology Department. The person in this position develops, analyzes, and certifies the acceptability of reports. Main responsibilities include interpretation of results, communicating with clients regarding inquiries, serving as a project owner on the project management team for Toxicology and LC/MS-related products, oversight of testing personnel in the department, oversight of quality control and SOP documentation, troubleshooting of client problems relating to department products, and training of current and new employees.

About this Job:
-Performs technical and administrative review of data in conjunction with any provided case history prior to the release of reports.
-Identifies potential laboratory-related improvements and assists in the implementation.
-Research and development of new procedures and existing procedures.
-Composition and review of the Standard Operating Procedures for the Toxicology department.
-Confirmatory methodology validations and instrument implementation.
-Manufacturing and development of all in-house quality control material.
-Reagent, calibrator, and quality control material preparation used for LC/MS testing.
-Quality control tracking and quantitative checkout according to SOP directives.
-Monthly maintenance and tracking of all quality control protocols to ensure all confirmatory methodologies are within departmental standards.
-Ph. D. in a relevant chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution
-Certification by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in toxicological chemistry, the American Board of Forensic Toxicology, the American Board of Bioanalysis as a High Complexity Laboratory Director, or other HHS-approved board as applicable
-Meets minimum requirements for eligibility as Responsible Person (RP) under the National Laboratory Certification Program
-Experience with immunoassay and mass spectrometry methods must have LC-MS/MS 3 plus years of experience
-Must have a valid California Clinical Laboratory License (MTA or MTC)
-Experience in toxicology/chemistry/microbiology
-Current holder or eligible to obtain Certificate of Qualification (CQ) in Forensic Toxicology.
-2 or more years of technical experience in a high-throughput laboratory environment
-2 or more years in a laboratory supervisory or management role (highly desired)
-Method development using mass spectrometry platforms, including GC-MS and LC-MS/MS
-Demonstrated technical expertise across specimen matrices including urine, oral fluids, and hair
-Forensic toxicology, including workplace and drugs of abuse testing
-Clinical toxicology experience, including prescription drug monitoring.
-Effective project management includes developing project plans, timelines, tracking, communication with stakeholders, and timely completion
-Ability to develop and conduct training and education programs
Strong interpersonal and communication skills exhibited among both technical and non-technical staff
