Clinical Laboratory Scientist / Molecular Genetics

Lighthouse Lab Services is representing a top-notch company who's at the cutting edge of genotyping and genome sequencing.  Our client is looking for some ambitious and impressionable Clinical Laboratory Scientists preferably with a clinical molecular background to join their team on the evening shift and night shift.  See below for the various shift options.

Evening Shift:

– Sunday to Thursday 3pm – 11:30pm

– Tuesday to Saturday 3pm – 11:30pm

– Friday to Tuesday 11pm – 7:30am


Night Shift:

– Sunday to Thursday 11pm – 7:30am

– Tuesday to Saturday 11pm – 7:30am

– Friday to Tuesday 11pm – 7:30am



– Perform high complexity test(s) that are authorized by the laboratory director

– Responsible for specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results

– Reports laboratory testing on clinical laboratory samples used to aide physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients

– Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient results

– Perform testing of proficiency samples, ensuring proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens

– Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens

– Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed

– Selects, implements and evaluates results for Quality Control materials used in laboratory assays

– Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance

– Troubleshoot assays and equipment that fail to meet specifications

– Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director

– Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications

– Participate in activities required to support all necessary licensing for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on-site inspections

– Train other CLSs and CLTs in laboratory methods

– Assist in assay development activities


– Bachelor’s degree required

– Active California CLS OR CGMBS license or equivalent is required

For evening shift: 0-5 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting; preferably with experience in a high complexity molecular testing environment

For night shift: 0-5 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting; preferably with experience in a high complexity molecular testing environment

– Must be flexible to work different shifts, such as weekends and evenings

– Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills are essential



– Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications

For evening shift:  10% Shift Differential

For night shift and/or weekend days worked:  15% Shift Differential
