Lighthouse Lab Services is representing an independent reference lab near Decatur that is looking for a Laboratory Billing Manager to join their team! If this sounds like something you wanna get in on, then look below for more info:
Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
-Able to accurately bill electronically and file insurance claims.
-Knowledge of various insurance forms to include HCFA and EOB forms.
-Post and submitting claims and payments to the insurance company.
-Correct/ remit claim denials.
-Establish payment plans on delinquent collection accounts.
-May need to communicate with the physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to categorize the services a patient has received for proper billing.
Able to apply CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 CM standardized codes to patient records to accurately reflect the services received.
-Remaining up-to-date with the latest revisions to coding standards and federal regulations.
-May need to maintain contact with multiple insurance companies.
-Be knowledgeable of different types of medical insurance such as private carriers, HMO's,
-Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Comp & Disability.
-Investigating reject or denied claims.
-Must have a good understanding of the ICD-10 codes and Modifiers.
-Be conscientious of common problems with reimbursements as a mean to prevent them.-Able to balance skills between billing & coding and processing and other related assignments.
-Review and assess adjudicated claims for timely and proper payment of outstanding balances.
-Research, correct, and resubmit or reprocess unpaid claims, as necessary.
-Review zero payments daily, including denials, correspondence, etc. Identify liability and guarantor hierarchy and transfer balances timely and appropriately.
-Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for denials and underpayment of codes.
-Research and resolve denials and underpayments with insurance carriers.
Verify all identified insurance carriers for eligibility and confirm carrier policy for referral and authorization requirements as needed for claims adjudication.
-Submit carrier appeals and reconsideration requests in a timely manner.
-Process insurance refund requests as necessary and according to policy and procedure.
-Meet productivity goals, benchmarks as set and communicated by department manager.
-Always maintain confidentiality of patient information
Basic Preferred Profile:
-Bachelor's Degree in Medical Billing/Coding, or releated.
-2+ of Medical Billing/Coding experience required.
-Billing and Coding certified highly preferred.
Salary and Benefits:
-$32,000-50,000 (depending on experience)
