Laboratory Manager / Clinical Pathology

We are representing a state of the art research facility near Albuquerque, NM area that is ready to give you an opportunity to work in a vital role as a Lab Manager. 

Position Summary:

Under general direction, the Laboratory Manager will oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the Clinical Pathology laboratory in addition to managing scientific support staff.  This position will be responsible for overseeing and performing automated and manual hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation analyses, urinalysis and cytology. This position will perform technical evaluation of new instrumentation, method development and oversee the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures. Responsibilities will include monitoring of all procedures and quality control practices to ensure accuracy and validity of test results and compliance with the requirements of regulatory and certifying agencies.  The position will work with a multi-disciplinary biomedical research team studying the pathogenesis of infectious agents and toxicity of environmental pollutants and drug products.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Lab Sciences or related field and minimum of five years of experience as a laboratory generalist with 3 years management experience directing multiple technical personnel in a laboratory environment; or equivalent combination of directly related education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. 

Certification by a recognized agency (ASCP or equivalent) is required. 

Must have demonstrated proficiency as laboratory generalist including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, and urinalysis.   Knowledge of GLP’s and experience with laboratory animal research and/or ABSL3 environment is desirable.  

This position may involve work inside the ABSL3 facility which may require vaccinations/immunizations.  Candidates must be able to lift up to wear a respirator.  A Post-offer physical and background check are required.
