Lighthouse Lab Services is representing well-established hospital lab that is part of a larger hospital system that is looking for a Senior Blood Bank Technologist (Days) to join their team in Brooklyn! Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
-Day to day supervision of test performance by test personnel, and in the absence of the director is responsible for the proper performance of all laboratory procedures.
-Monitoring examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
-Plans and organizes his/her section efficiently and cost effectively in the use of available resources.
-Reviews all Quality Control, Maintenance logs, patients’ results, complaints and laboratory general documentation logs as appropriate for completeness and accuracy.
-Actively participates and is involved in the performance improvement process of the institution.
-Interacts with regulatory and accreditation agencies and actively participates in the process of conduction, follow-up, and reporting of external assessment for the purpose of accreditation, licensure, or certification.
-Complies with laboratory safety issues and maintains an environment of care standards.
-In event of non-conformances, ensuring that results of test examinations are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
-Effectively manages inventory to ensure uninterrupted operation within the section.
-Establishes and maintains the proper personnel selection process (e.g. writes and maintains job descriptions, reviews applications, interviews appropriate applicants, and hires or rejects applicants).
-Assures all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications.
-Develops and implements training for staff.
-Prepares staffing schedules so as to maintain optimal output for the respective section.
-Reviews time records and prepares them for submission to the Payroll Department and maintains employee attendance records.
-Evaluates each section employee’s performance as per his/her job description. Assesses each employee’s competency in full filling his/her position requirements.
-Coaches and counsels employees as required, ensuring the achievement of departmental needs.
-Is reliable and demonstrates professional conduct.
-Interacts cooperatively with colleagues within the facility toward institutional objectives.
-Performs other duties assigned. In an emergency, performs other duties necessary for the welfare of patients or the efficient operation of the hospital. Maintain the quality assessment, continuous improvement and document control of all laboratory practices.
Basic Preferred Profile:
–BS/Master's in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, or related.
-NYS Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist Required.
-6+ years of Blood Bank Experience Required.
