Method Development Scientist /Certifying Scientist

Lighthouse Lab Services is currently seeking a Method Development / Certifying Scientist to join a quickly growing toxicology testing laboratory near North Raleigh, NC. This role will be responsible for performing analytical drug testing data review and analyses as well as perform method development for the toxicology lab. The Scientist will be conducting a review of all confirmation results to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the drug testing process, and subsequently releasing these test reports to physicians or other healthcare professionals as well as perform method development and validations for new assays as well as periodic performance verification of current assay. This individual will assist with the roll out of new methods, QA activities, write SOPs, training production staff as it relates to methods they have validated. They will assist with filling out all the paperwork associated with new LDTs submissions to appropriate parties.

Specific Duties could include but not limited to:

Reagent Preparation – prepare stock solutions, QCs, and calibrators

Instrument/Equipment Maintenance – maintain resources according manufacturers’ recommendations

Develop and maintain competency in the operation of instrument and equipment as assigned and in laboratory-specific workflow practices

Validation Planning Phase – responsible for outlining a complete method validation plan that covers all components of the validation process

Method Development – perform literature reviews, construct an analyte library, assay optimizations

Method Validation – linearity, precision (intra and inter), accuracy, carryover, lower limit studies, interference, method comparison, dilution integrity, analyte stability

Data Reduction – Perform initial data reduction and data analysis using EP Evaluator and Microsoft Excel®, summarize experimental process, results and findings

Validation of manual and automated sample preparation protocols

Periodic verification of instrument performance; including calibration verification, carryover, instrument correlation and quality controls

Safety equipment verification at prescribed intervals

Review drug confirmation data from the laboratory, compares with the initial screening data for accuracy and release the results.

Initiate  any corrective action in the lab on testing data that has been reviewed and found to be incomplete or inconclusive.

Provide detailed customer consultation for physicians and other health care professionals in regards to drug testing methods, drug metabolism and excretion.

Shift: M-F, Days

Salary: $52,000 – $60,000 per year (based on experience)

Requirements:

– Bachelor's degree or greater in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Toxicology, or similar. 

– 2+ years LC-MS/MS experience in method development and data analysis on the AB Sciex 4000, 5000  6500 in a clinical toxicology setting
