Lighthouse Lab Services is representing well-established hospital lab that is part of a larger hospital system that is looking for an experienced Medical Technologist (All Shifts) to join their hematology department in Bronx! Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
-Checks the performance of coag, urine and cell analyzers and troubleshoots all hematology analyzers as necessary.
-Performs additional testing including semen analysis, cell counts on bodily fluids, specialized hematology procedures, special stains, pipette calibration, white cell identification, and red blood cell morphology.
-Logs, enters, verifies and validates all requisite data in the computerized clinical system or on manual records. Records and reports abnormal findings ("panic values") to supervisors and respective clinical units.
-Receives, labels and processes patient specimens, entering requisite information into section computerized system in accordance with established procedures.
-Completes all documentation and logs all information in accordance with set procedures. Communicates culture/test results to appropriate clinicians.
-Performs ongoing daily quality assurance/CQI functions in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure safety, environmental and infection control and compliance with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
-Participates in periodic linearity, stability and correlation studies, etc. as required. Prepares reagents and solutions following procedural guidelines.
-Provides support functions maintaining work area quality; maintains files and statistics.
-May answer telephones for area and record messages.
-Maintains clean workstation and equipment and maintains stock of clinical supplies.
Basic Preferred Profile:
–BS/BA in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, or related.
-NYS Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required.
-1+ years of hematology experience required.
-Must be comfortable with all areas of hematology testing.
